Sky Tower

Downtown Auckland was rainy with super gusty winds but it didn't stop the sky divers today.  The tower was celebrating its 16th birthday and it happened to be our 18th Wedding Anniversary, so we took our first trip up.
The first observation floor is 51, the second is 59.  The lift was surprisingly fast and had a glass bottom and one glass wall facing outward.
This is the bridge on our commute that leads to North Shore City.  Its hard to see, but you are looking at the Glenfield and Birkenhead area.
Nice matted wet hair, Mandy.  Gorgeous view of the harbor.  Many sailboats and charters were out today but to tiny to see in this photo.

Penny at age 3

Penny has to be watched very closely when she's outside because she's a little runaway.  She's terribly fast and clever.  Luckily we live at the end of a driveway at the end of a long cul de sac, but she still finds her way out.  This photo was at a park in Mangere near the airport where we spent our first day in NZ.

Fell asleep while protesting a nap.

Picking Oranges

Fresh from our backyard.  I noticed the tree was getting really full.  There's plenty for juicing and we may be able to give a few away.

None of my boys are comfortable with bugs, so it took a while for them to be willing to touch the tree.  We learned a trick to picking- hold the branch and twist the fruit off.
Otherwise you end up with a basket of half-peeled oranges

Baby Ryan turns 3 months

Little Ryan is now 3 months old.  He's smiling and cooing especially when sang to.  He will laugh for a little while and is generally a happy baby.  Ryan is almost sleeping through the night, but usually wants a bottle around midnight, if there is a usual.  Poor Liz shares the job of giving Ryan his bath and he's beginning to like the bath, and now Liz.  For a while he hated the bath and associated Liz with bath time, obviously never happy to see her.  Times are changing though.

Chair Redo

We were given this chair when we moved to New Zealand by a friend.  It was used to hold a high chair and had some paint drippings on it, as well as caked in food from my toddlers.  As I took it apart to reupholster, I found it was originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, and very, very old.  We breathed new life into it with a high gloss enamel paint and vinyl fabric. 14/8/13
